Marco Cataldo, a computer engineer, was the founder in the city of Lecce in 2008 of the urban laboratory called “Officine Cantelmo”. With the cooperative “Lecce città universitaria”, in collaboration with the University of Salento, he coordinated the design of the university publishing house UNISALENTO PRESS. Since 2016 he has been a board member of directors of the Puglia Region's agency for Adisu Puglia. Since 2017 he has been a member of the Board of the Order of Engineers of the Province of Lecce. In 2011 he founded a university spin-off dealing with research and experimental development in the field of engineering. Since 2020 he has been collaborating on behalf of Adisu Puglia on the “Puglia Regione Universitaria” project.
Cristina Danisi Polytechnic University of Bari, ArCoD Department

Cristina Danisi (Bari 1996), studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Bari, graduating in July 2020 with an experimental thesis: “University as an actor in urban regeneration”, whose aim was to demonstrate how initiatives promoted by university can support urban regeneration policies of the cities in which they are located.
Since 2020 she collaborates with the Polytechnic University of Bari on the research project “Puglia Regione Universitaria”, through postgraduate scholarships.
In 2022 she collaborated with the architectural planning team of the extension of “Ennio De Giorgi” university college in Lecce: a practical experiment within “Puglia Regione Universitaria” project.
In 2023 she collaborated with Polytechnic University of Bari and A.r.c.a. Sud Salento on a consultancy study on public works programming activities, through postgraduate scholarships.
She has also been practising as an architect since she graduated.
Giovanna Mangialardi Polytechnic University of Bari, ArCoD Department

Giovanna Mangialardi, PhD, is an adjunct professor in ICAR 21 at the Polytechnic University of Bari, ArCoD. She participates in the research activities of the project for the regeneration of areas affected by Xylella, funded by the MIPAAF, of the "Puglia Regione Universitaria" project, and of the national PRIN research project "RUSH Responsive University Student Housing". She served as a research fellow for five years at the University of Salento and currently holds the position of Associate Editor for the International Journal of Urban Planning and Smart City, published by IGI Global.
Alessandra Maroccia Puglia Region, Department of Labour Policies, Education and Training, Education and University Section

Allessandra Maroccia is Puglia Region official at the Department of Labor Policies, Education and University with highly qualified functions in “University Study Right and A.F.A.M., relations with A.di.S.U. Puglia, interventions for the development of Apulian universities, Research and innovation”. She deals with the planning of interventions for the Right to study of the tertiary education system (University, I.T.S., A.F.A.M.) for research, innovation and development of universities and higher education. Member of the board of directors of the regional agency A.di.S.U. Puglia with D.P.G.R. 447 of 12/29/2021. She participates as process manager in the “Puglia Regione Universitaria” project.

Abstract

In order to explore the unreleased declination of the relationship between the urban and the university system, the contribution aims to analyze the “flagship projects” of the regional research “PUGLIA REGIONE UNIVERSITARIA. Studiare e vivere in città accoglienti e sostenibili” verifying the impacts on the regional territory, practices, and community.
As an example of research action project, the “flagship projects” and their verification are configured as the “active” part of the research, able to produce real effects and tangible impacts on the territory, with the aim of producing positive changes on reality. They belong to the third phase of the research, the more operational one, as application proposals, small experiments, funded and implemented by the proposing institutions, based on the knowledge framework developed in the previous phases of the project and returning a first, tangible feedback on the territories involved.

The knowledge systematization of the “flagship projects” concluded, in progress and in the planning stage, could be useful for to extrapolate generalizable and replicable research action guidelines, new territorial policies and innovative choices in terms of right to university study.
